The Virginia State Police Bomb Squad has taken possession of what is believed to be a live grenade that was included in a box of items donated to the Goodwill store on Hampton Roads Parkway in North Suffolk.
“At this time, there is no indication that it was intentionally delivered to the store,” city spokesman Tim Kelley said in a news release.
Employees and customers were allowed to return to the Goodwill store and adjacent businesses after earlier being evacuated.
Dispatchers were alerted of the incident at 1:07 p.m. Friday.
