STATE CHAMPS! King’s Fork girls hold off furious rally to win state championship

RICHMOND – Millbrook stormed back from a double-digit deficit, but the King’s Fork High School girls held on to win the Virginia High School League Class 4 state championship game Thursday afternoon.
The Bulldogs won 71-67 in a game that was close until the buzzer.
Millbrook climbed back from a 29-20 halftime deficit and trailed 47-44 after three quarters.
Hot shooting by King’s Fork kept Millbrook at bay. The Bulldogs shot over 60% from the field in the second half and 48.1% for the game.
Yasmine Brown led the winners with 15 points. Niyah Gaston added 13 and Cyriah Griffin and Kiana Brittain 12 apiece. Brittain also had 8 rebounds.
