The Suffolk Business Women held its second annual golf tournament at the Sleepy Hole Golf Course on Oct. 1. The tournament was a tremendous success thanks to sponsors and the dedication of chairman Jennifer Simpson and co-chair Veronica Thompson.
Over the years, the Suffolk Business Women have given back to the community more than $300,000 from their fundraising events.
Simpson, Thompson and all the Suffolk Business Women ladies presented $20,000 in checks at the group’s January 2022 meeting at the Hilton Garden Inn Suffolk Riverfront. Those charities receiving proceeds were: Suffolk News-Herald Cheer Fund, Genieve Shelter, CAPS, Suffolk Christian Fellowship Ministry, Suffolk Humane Society, Boys & Girls Club of Suffolk, Suffolk Special Olympics, Out of the Darkness, Edmarc, One27 Inc., Horton Wreaths and the SBW Alzheimer’s Team.
The SBW thanked its presenting sponsors, Farmers Bank and Farmers Bank Home Mortgage, for their second year of sponsoring the golf tournament. Additionally, they thanked Bayside Concrete, Chorey & Associates Realty, City of Suffolk Economic Development, Freedom Street Partners, Sal’s Pizza & Pasta, Evans Delivery, Glenn Development, Mason’s Grill & Smokehouse, Producers Peanut Co. Inc., Southern Bank, Appraisal Company of Virginia, M & M Hospitality Group and Langley Federal Credit Union for also being sponsors.
SBW also recognized all the businesses that donated prizes, the hole sponsors and the non-member volunteers that helped in making the tournament a success.
The SBW will soon be posting the tournament date for 2022.
