Suffolk man injured in Franklin shooting

Franklin Police Department responded to several calls reporting shots fired on Dorchester Street in the early morning of Jan. 25, and the department reported having discovered the gunshot victim after he was delivered to Bon Secours — Southampton Medical Center.
In a Wednesday afternoon press release, FPD stated that it was at 12:23 a.m. on Jan. 25 that the Franklin Police Department Communications Center received several calls for shots fired in the 1600 block of Dorchester Street. Units arrived on scene and began to canvass the area.
“While units were on scene, communications advised the officers that there was a gunshot victim who was dropped off at the emergency room of Southampton Memorial Hospital,” officials stated in the release.
Units responded to the hospital and discovered the victim, who has been identified as D’angelo Steward, 22, from Suffolk, the release stated, adding that Steward was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
When asked about Steward’s condition Jan. 26, FPD Sgt. Scott Halverson said, “I believe the victim is stable at this time.”
The investigation is under way, and the FPD conveyed thanks in the release to the Southampton County Sheriff’s Office for its assistance.
