Police investigate shooting, carjacking

Suffolk Police are investigating a shooting and attempted carjacking incident that happened early Wednesday.
According to a city press release, the incident in the 6100 block of Brookwood Drive was reported at 4:38 a.m.
The victim, a 36-year-old Suffolk man, told police that three individuals approached him on foot and attempted to rob him of his vehicle. The victim was reluctant to give up his vehicle and was shot by one of the suspects. He was taken to an area hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening.
The three Black male suspects fled the scene in a vehicle described as a possible blue crossover SUV.
The investigation remains ongoing at this time, and there is no further information available for release.
