Folks in Suffolk can now get at-home COVID-19 tests for free from Suffolk libraries.

Starting Dec. 13, Suffolk libraries will be distributing the rapid antigen test kits. Individuals can pick up a virtually-proctored Abbot BinaxNOW COVID-19 Antigen Card Home Test from any of the three Suffolk Public Library locations (Chuckatuck Library, Morgan Memorial Library, and North Suffolk Library), using curbside service only.

The test can be used in the privacy of the individual’s home, vehicle or anywhere they have access to a mobile device or computer with camera and internet access.

Kits will only be given to adults, and there is a limit of five kits per person, per day. Suffolk Public Library is only a provider of the kits and cannot give any instructions or answer questions regarding the COVID-19 test kits. However, individuals who need help can contact VDH with questions or concerns using contact information provided on the test box. The contact number is 1-877-829-4682.

No library card is needed to get the test kits, city spokesman Tim Kelley said. People can call ahead or call when they arrive outside the library location to advise staff they are there to pick up a test kit.

Suffolk Public Library’s curbside service hours are Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 7:45 p.m. and Friday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. at Morgan Memorial Library and North Suffolk Library. Chuckatuck Library curbside service hours are Mondays from 10 a.m. to 7:45 p.m.
