Mrs. Levora Smith was granted her angel wings on Nov. 19, 2021, at the graceful age of 88. She was born Oct. 7, 1933, in Nansemond County to the late Annie Mae Bush and Daniel Reid.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Emanuel David Smith; son, David Alexander Smith; daughter, Ann Robinson; siblings, Russell Jordan, Clarence Jordan and Lois Jones.

She was united in holy matrimony to Mr. Emanuel Smith of Suffolk until his departure. To this union, five children were born.

She leaves to cherish her memories: daughters, Eartheree Williams, of Suffolk, Tammie Barnes (Milton), of Chesapeake, Lee Cherry Vincent, of Jacksonville, Florida; grandchildren, Tingo Smith, of Saudi Arabia, Derrick Russell, of Charlotte, North Carolina, David Smith, of Covington, Georgia, Samora Williams, of Suffolk, Serita Person, of Portsmouth, Cadrina Smith-Toussaint, of Hampton, Domonique Robinson, of Hampton, Shantina Robinson, of Portsmouth, Tamari Brown, of Chesapeake; 17 great-grandchildren and host of nieces and nephews whom she loved and adored. Mrs. Smith had a devoted cousin, Ethel Taylor. Her devoted friends were Bonita Jackson, Velma Bland and Jamal Jackson; a cherished friend, Ms. Elsie Newby.

At the early age of 12, she joined Olive Branch Baptist Church in Suffolk, where she remained a faithful member until her final day. She served on the Senior Choir and Usher Board. She also held the position of president and treasurer of the Missionary Board.

Mrs. Smith was very active in her early years. She served as a Girl Scout leader for several years, she was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, and a devoted foster parent of many children. Her most important role was being a devoted, loving and protective mother to her children, whom she cherished.

She was committed to studying her Bible faithfully. Her treasured hobbies included singing, traveling, painting, cooking and drawing.

Funeral services entrusted with Harris Funeral Home will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 29, at Olive Branch Baptist Church. The viewing will be from 3 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 28, at Harris Funeral Home, 685 Carolina Road. Our beloved mother, grandmother and friend will be greatly missed.
