As the cold weather starts to set in, Suffolk can prepare for its favorite fall activities to return, especially those with homemade treats.
After a break, Providence United Methodist Church is back with its annual Fall Bazaar from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 23 at 3109 Providence Road.
Numerous tables and tents will be set up in the church’s parking lot, offering something for everyone who stops by.
“We are very excited to be holding this again,” said Bobbie Cowan, one of the organizers of the event. “We’ve had great success in the past, so we are looking forward to this year.”
This bazaar is known for selling its freshly homemade country sausage for $5 per pound. This sausage is an old family recipe that has been passed down and well-loved for many years. The sausage is known to sell out within the first few hours, so folks need to arrive early if they want to snap some up.
Another special food item for sale is the bazaar’s famous Brunswick stew for $10 a quart. Daisy hoop cheese and a bake sale with numerous items will also be present for even more goodies.
Folks wanting to do some early Christmas shopping can go towards the “this and that” tent that is full of hidden treasures. Folks can find antiques and more in this tent to give as a present for a loved one or keep for themselves.
This church fundraiser has been held for around 70 years. According to Cowan, the church always expects a large crowd for the bazaar, and many come back year after year. After a break in the event from COVID-19, Providence United Methodist Church is ready to have everyone back again for another fun bazaar.
