To the editor:
For as long as I can remember, the U.S. Navy core values have been honor, courage and commitment. Honor, courage and commitment are more than just words; they’re a code of ethics Navy veterans and active duty members live by and perform daily. The Navy taught us the value of respect and validation of those of which we serve. Simply put, the Navy taught us to be servant leaders.
At a time when school boards around the country are being challenged in unprecedented ways, I’m honored that my shipmate and friend has once again stepped up to answer the call to serve. There is no doubt in my mind that she will do so with honor, courage and commitment. In my 29 years of knowing Mrs. Ebony Wright, a candidate for Suffolk School Board, she has always upheld our core values. She is a voice who abides by an uncompromising code of integrity. In short, she makes every effort possible to do what is right, lead from the front and conduct herself in the highest ethical manner in relationships with seniors, peers and subordinates.
I’ve had the opportunity to witness her operate with a spirit of excellence in many capacities. Her wealth of business and management knowledge and experience, and dedication to the youth in the community is amazing. She conducts herself with a sense of grace and dignity that should be an inspiration to us all. Although Mrs. Wright was born and raised in California, she has lived in and supported the Suffolk community for many years. She has made her life here and raised her family here.
In addition to the Navy core values instilled in her, her professional background will be a great addition to the skills and experience of the current board. If you’re looking for integrity, accountability and transparency, and someone who walks in honor, courage and commitment, Vote Wright For Schools.
