The eastbound right lane of U.S. Route 58 between Kenyon Road and Centerpoint Drive will be closed until at least 3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 30 and on Friday, Oct. 1 due to an unknown void found under the eastbound lane.
The city’s Department of Public Works found the void, also known as a sinkhole, during planned construction Sept. 28 and said corrective action is being taken to make sure drivers can get through the area safely.
The original work zone for this part of the Route 58 widening project was scheduled from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 30.
The work is scheduled to close the eastbound right lane in this area from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 1, though because of the unknown extent of the issue, the lane may need to remain closed past 3 p.m.
Drivers should anticipate potential delays and slow moving traffic.
