To the editor:
I am writing this letter to ask why information on a public hearing about a solar farm was not sent to the people of Holland. No notices were put up. It seems that a conditional use permit was requested to put a solar energy facility on property that borders Route 58 leading into Holland. How are the people of Holland to express their concerns when the announcement is a small five-line announcement in the paper two days before the hearing?
As a lifetime citizen of Suffolk, and a homeowner in the borough of Holland, I am not in favor of the solar facility. I would rather see the crops growing, not solar panels filling the fields.
Just recently a request for a permit for a solar facility in Whaleyville was not approved. I urge the citizens of Suffolk to contact their city councilman.
