A driver suffered critical injuries in a single-vehicle crash early Saturday.

Suffolk Police and Suffolk Fire & Rescue responded to the scene of the accident in the 5400 block of Pruden Boulevard/Route 460 after it was reported at 6:42 a.m., according to a city press release.

The accident involved a single vehicle that overturned. The driver of the vehicle suffered critical injuries and was transported via Nightingale to an area hospital following medical assessment and treatment by Suffolk Fire & Rescue personnel.

The roadway was closed intermittently for approximately two and a half hours following to the incident and is now open.

The accident remains under investigation.
