Teen charged following hit-and-run

A Suffolk teen has been arrested and charged following a hit-and-run on Wednesday that injured an 8-year-old girl.

The accident in the 200 block of Spruce Street was reported at 7:57 p.m., according to a city press release.

When they arrived, officers found the girl lying in the roadway. She was transported to a local hospital suffering from serious, but not life-threatening, injuries, the press release stated.

Preliminary investigation found that a male subject “was observed traveling recklessly down Spruce Street” on an orange dirt bike when the victim was struck by the dirt bike, the press release stated.

“The subject left the dirt bike in the roadway and then allegedly fled the scene on foot,” the press release continued.

Raymond Jaquan Goodwyn Jr., 19, was arrested on charges including victim injured, driver fails to stop; dump trash on highway or private property; reckless general; and operation of motor-driven cycle on public highway.
