To the editor:

It was announced at last week’s school board meeting that Lakeland High School will hold its graduation on June 9 at 9 a.m. on the football field.

Haven’t things been hard enough on students and families and now to make matters worse, they will hold graduation in the middle of the week. This most likely keep many families that would come from out of town to witness and celebrate with their graduate, not to mention how many family members will have to take a day off work. How can these elected officials be so insensitive to limit this wonderful occasion? I have to ask the question to the school board, why can’t their graduation happen on June 12? Why make things more difficult than they already are?
