To the editor:
The Suffolk Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office regrets to announce that the ninth Forensics/CSI Camp that was scheduled for the week after Suffolk Public Schools end for the school year of 2020-2021 will be canceled due to the continued COVID-19 pandemic.
The Suffolk Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Forensics/CSI Camp is free to all youth ages 12-15 and is a one-week, half-day program designed to teach students of Suffolk about observation, photography, evidence collection, preservation and testimony in court on “mock crime scenes.” The curriculum is designed to educate students on the study of forensics and to build a better understanding of the decisions made by the Suffolk Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office in the handling of criminal cases.
Normally, this camp is designed for a class of 50 students. However, because of inadequate space that allows social distancing, this hands-on experience will not be practical to continue this year. We are hoping that this camp will be able to continue in 2022.
