Elnora Williams Hassell, 84, born May 30, 1936, departed this earthly life into the waiting arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 2, 2021 in her home.

She was born in Harrellsville, N.C. Elnora was educated in Edenton Chowan Public Schools in Edenton, N.C. She retired from Louise Obici Hospital in 1998.

Elnora was very generous and loved helping people. She supported countless organizations. Her motto was, “When you give from the heart it comes back. I may not get it, but my children and grandchildren will reap from my giving.” She had a beautiful heart.

Elnora was preceded in death by her parents, Fad and Annie Williams; her infant daughter, Lorene Williams; and her brother, James Williams. She leaves to cherish her memories her husband of 46 years, Herbert Hassell; one daughter, Barbara Wiggins (Jack); one son, Jerry Williams (Keyetta); one stepson, Ervin Holley (Shameeka), all of Suffolk; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one niece and a host of cousins and friends.

Special thanks to Heartland Hospice Care and staff, particularly her nurse Kayla Coleman, who took excellent care of our loved one.

There will be no service per Mrs. Hassell’s wishes. Professional services entrusted to Metropolitan Funeral Service, Portsmouth Chapel.
