Police investigate carjacking incident

Suffolk Police are investigating a carjacking incident that occurred in the early morning of Feb. 5.
According to a press release, Emergency Communications were contacted at approximately 4:25 a.m. advising of the incident in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 3000 block of Gateway Drive.
Upon preliminary investigation, it was determined that the adult female victim was approached by an unknown male subject that allegedly displayed a handgun and demanded the victim’s vehicle, a white Hyundai Accent with Florida tags 531NXC. The subject then fled the area in the stolen vehicle. The victim was not injured during this incident.
The subject was further described as a brown-skinned black male, approximately 5`6” and weighing 140 pounds, wearing a blue medical mask, and beige coat with a dark hooded sweater under the coat.
