William V. “Bill” Dunning, 78, of Woodland, N.C., passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2021, with his beloved wife by his side. He served the cities of Norfolk and Suffolk, retiring as Deputy Chief of the Suffolk Police Department in 1996.
Bill is survived by his wife, Daisy Jenkins of Roxobel, N.C.; two daughters, Donna McIntosh (Stuart) and DeeDee Lauver (Danny Jr.); a granddaughter, Niki Forrester; and three great-grandchildren, Cambria, Tripp and Daisie all of Suffolk. Survivors also include a step-granddaughter, Louise Hilton (Steve); and two step-great-grandchildren, Amy and Emma of Southern England, UK.
A memorial service will be held at Covenant United Methodist Church, Chesapeake, at a later date, pending COVID-19 restrictions.
