Police investigate shooting

The Suffolk Police Department is investigating a shooting incident that occurred in the 400 block of Wilson Street on Monday.
Emergency Communications was first contacted at 2:45 p.m. when a caller advised that there were multiple subjects fighting in the area of the 400 block of Wilson Street and Wellons Street, and that shots were fired, according to a city press release.
Preliminary investigation found that two adult males had sustained gunshot injuries during the incident, and both received emergency medical assessment and treatment by Suffolk Fire & Rescue personnel. One victim sustained non-life threatening injuries, and one victim sustained serious injuries. They were both ground transported to local hospitals for further treatment.
Suffolk Police remain on scene and the investigation is ongoing at this time.
