Camp25 is having a camp for children and teens with special needs for ages 4 to 16.

Camp Exceptional is a one-day camp that works with children with autism, cognitive disabilities and physical disabilities. For this camp, parents must attend with their child. Licensed marriage and family therapist, Janice Holeman, has partnered with Camp25 to plan this event.

“This is an amazing opportunity for our babies with special needs,” said Holeman in a Facebook post.

The day will be full of physical and sensory activities. Some of these will include soccer drills, sack races, slime and lava. After the activities, a pizza party will take place. Campers will also take home a T-shirt and prizes to remember the day.

Camp Exceptional will start check-in at 1:45 p.m. on Sept. 27, at Courtland Community Center, 25499 Florence St. Courtland. The cost is $40 for each child and parent pair. Masks and social distancing will be required the entire time.

The mission of Camp25 is to inspire and develop socially, physically and culturally educated children in a fun, positive and unique one-day camp experience.

“To keep everyone safe and follow safety measures, we only have 25 available for the camp,” said Jenell Whitfield, secretary for Camp25. “If you are able, please donate to assist with making this camp a success.
