Police investigate robbery, stabbing

Suffolk Police are investigating an armed robbery that ended in a store clerk being stabbed on Sunday evening.
The incident at The Tobacco and Vape Shop in the 1000 block of University Boulevard was reported to police at 8:34 p.m., according to a city press release.
Preliminary investigation found a suspect attempted to leave the store with stolen merchandise and, when confronted by an employee, stabbed the employee and fled on foot.
The victim, a man, was taken to an area hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening.
The suspect was described as a black male in his early to mid 20s, 5 feet, 7 inches tall, wearing a dark hoodie, blue jeans and a “COVID-style mask,” according to the city press release.
The incident remains under investigation.
