Eugene Milteer passed away on April 22, 2020. He was born in Nansemond County on May 2, 1928, to Ponnie and Sallie Greene Milteer.
He graduated from East Suffolk High School and attended St. Paul’s College before enlisting in the U.S. Army and serving in the Korean War. After working at the Norfolk Naval Air Station for many years, Eugene found his passion as a licensed contractor, building homes for families across Suffolk and Nansemond County and serving on community and professional boards. He was also a member of Metropolitan Baptist Church.
Eugene is survived by his devoted wife, Doretha Skeeter Milteer; loving children, Regina Milteer-Rock (Pitman) and Warren Milteer (Stephanie); grandchildren, Warren Milteer Jr., Ashley Rock-Smith (Marcus), Brandon Milteer and Bethanie Milteer; great-grandchildren, Joshua Smith and Leah Smith; brother, Curtis Milteer; sisters-in-law, Elsie Milteer, Sarah Milteer and Dora Lockett; brother-in-law, Aubrey Skeeter; stepsisters, Odelia Hortillosa and Louvenia White; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and three siblings, Felton Milteer, Lennis Milteer Collins and Luther Milteer.
There will be a private graveside service.
