The Western Tidewater Health District now has a total of 155 cases of COVID-19, an increase of 12 from Thursday to Friday.
Suffolk has 70 cases, with 69 in Isle of Wight County, nine in Franklin and seven in Southampton County. There are 27 hospitalizations in the district.
Statewide, there are 7,491 confirmed cases, an increase of about 8.7 percent since Thursday’s report. There have been 231 deaths.
According to the Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association, there are 809 confirmed positive COVID-19 patients in hospitals, and 499 patients whose test results are pending.
Combined, the positive and pending groups have 400 people in the ICU and 224 on a ventilator. Total ventilators in use at hospitals number 622 — about 22 percent of the number on hand.
