Mother’s Day is only three weeks away, but it definitely doesn’t seem like we should already be that far into springtime.
With the COVID-19 pandemic affecting virtually every aspect of life, sense of time seems warped. It seems like spring ceased to exist in mid-March, before it even officially began.
But time marches on, as the old cliché goes, and it does so no matter what’s going on in the world.
One of the classic spring celebrations is Mother’s Day. And while it’s likely you won’t be able to take your mom — or your wife, daughter, mother-in-law, grandmother, aunt, foster mom or other mom in your life — to a restaurant on Mother’s Day, and you may not even be able to see her in person on Mother’s Day, it’s still a great day to celebrate moms and all that they do, especially when current events have shed more light on all that moms do for their children.
One way you can celebrate your own mom, or another mom in your life, is by sending us a photo of her and about 100 to 150 words about why she’s the best mom there is.
Some of the submissions we’ve already received talk about homemade chocolate cake, changing bandages after surgeries, working hard to make enough money for groceries, devotion to church family, and being there through it all.
We know you have lots of similar memories and words of appreciation to share about the mom in your life, so please send us those write-ups and photos so that these special moms can be honored.
Send us these items by April 22, and we will print them in a special section that comes out on April 29.
