The Suffolk Christian Academy boys’ basketball team had two players, George Rennie and Cody Ferguson, earn All-Conference honors.
The Knights had a good season that saw a couple of players get accolades. Rennie and Ferguson were recognized on the All-Conference teams, with Rennie taking home Conference Player of the Year honors.
Coach David Daniels was happy for his players and the recognition they were able to receive.
“It is great to see guys who put the work in to get recognized for it,” Daniels said. “For George, it makes me excited to see him take the next step for his senior year.”
Rennie admitted he was a bit shocked to earn the award. He felt like the season went well for the Knights. They would have liked to win more games this season; however, he felt good about the way the team finished up the season.
Throughout the season, Rennie just wanted to put his team in the best situation possible. He was never worried about stats. Defensively, he wanted to make sure SCA was communicating effectively to be in the best position possible to make a stop.
“I would have never expected it,” Rennie said of the Player of the Year award. “I had never considered being a candidate for the award, because they are so many good players in our conference. I went out and gave 100 percent each and every game, and I’m thankful to be recognized.”
As Rennie returns for his senior year next year, he will be even more confident in his game after seeing what paid off for him. He and Ferguson were essential in the success SCA was able to have this season.
