The Nansemond-Suffolk Academy girls’ basketball team is now one game away from the state championship game after a win over Trinity Christian School.
The Lady Saints hosted Trinity Christian Wednesday night and earned a 59-21 win that has advanced NSA to the Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association Division II state semifinals. NSA proved to be too much for Trinity Christian, leading 29-2 at the half.
Alivia Giles had another strong game, going for 22 points and 11 rebounds and shooting 11-of-13 from the field. Alyssa Waddy added nine points and nine rebounds.
NSA will face the No. 4 seeded Highland School at the Richard Bland College of the College of William and Mary Friday afternoon at 3 p.m. Friday. If the Lady Saints win that game, they will play for the state title at the same location Saturday at 3 p.m.
