Barbara Wolcott, chairman and chief executive officer of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Towne Realty received the 2019 Hampton Roads REALTOR Association Lifetime Achievement Award at the installation of officers and award ceremony held at the Westin Town Center, Virginia Beach, on Dec. 13.
The Lifetime Achievement Award is only given to a member in good standing who has been with the Association for a minimum of 25 years. Wolcott has been a dedicated, enthusiastic and supportive member of the REALTOR Association at all levels.
Wolcott has been a member of this association for almost 50 years, serving on the Board of Directors, chairing HRRPAC fundraising twice, chairing multiple committees and councils and ultimately serving as chair of the Board of Directors in 1988. She also was awarded the local Broker of the Year award in 1987.
Her service to HRRA was just the beginning of her dedication to the industry. She continued to serve on the local level while rising up through the ranks at the state and national level. She served as VAR Board of Directors president in 1996 and earned the Virginia REALTOR of the Year in 1988. At NAR, she served on many committees including Strategic Planning, Legislative, Issues Mobilization and many more.
Beyond her work in the real estate business, Wolcott also serves as a leader in the community. She has been recognized for her work with several non-profit organizations for children with disabilities and active duty and retired military members. Most recently, Wolcott was recognized for her combination of business and civic contributions by being awarded The Inside Business 2016 Women in Business Achievement Award.
In her acceptance speech, Wolcott shared with the audience the struggles of a woman rising to this success during a time where women weren’t considered for mortgages.
Her knowledge of the industry and faithfulness to her peers has continued to create an environment of professionalism and strength.
Wolcott was presented the award by longtime friend, active board member and REALTOR with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Towne Realty, Gayle “Charlie” Gowin.
