The Nansemond-Suffolk Academy boys’ basketball team edged Portsmouth Christian School 53-50 last Monday night.
The Saints went to 14-6 after the road win. It was a good win for a Saints team that had to bounce back from a tough loss to Cape Henry on Friday.
George Pettaway led the way with 18 points, while Kemauri Spencer added 15 points and Edward Harrison added 12 points.
The Saints will play three games this week, including a crucial matchup against Steward School on Thursday. Steward is among the top teams in NSA’s division, so the matchup between the two teams could be meaningful.
In the most recent Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association Division II poll, NSA came in at No. 7, one spot down from the place they held the past couple of weeks. NSA will have a prime opportunity to move up this week if they finish strong.
