Mitchell re-opening clothing store
Stephanie Mitchell is re-opening her fashion store this Saturday, and lots of her former customers in the community are excited.
Mitchell, 45, formerly owned her clothing store in the 100 block of West Washington Street from June 2008 to December 2016. She got out of business but recently decided to return to her passion of fashion while also keeping up her more important passion, ministry.
“I didn’t know I would be going back into business, as far as storefront,” she said. “I really didn’t.”
But former customers — especially men, as she specializes in men’s fashion — kept asking her if she was going to return. Just about a month ago, she made the decision and found her new location at 174 E. Washington St.
“I had basically gave everything away — even down to the cash register,” she said. “I had to go buy another one.”
She said lots of customers were excited to learn she was coming back into business.
The store will carry brand names including Falcone and Milano Moda. Suits in sizes 30 regular to 60 long will be available, as well as tuxedos, shirt sets, bowties, neckties, suspenders, belts, vests, hats and more. Women can also shop the catalog for Mitchell to order from.
Group orders for singing groups, ushers and so on are welcomed.
“That’s been my dream since I was 13 years old,” Mitchell said. “I’ve always had a vision.”
For her, it’s not just about the clothing. Mitchell enjoys being able to minister in her own place of business.
“I meet so many different people,” she said. “They may come in for clothing, but we end up praying. I can lead them to the Lord right in here.
“Deep down inside, I think that’s why I’m back in it.”
Mitchell will hold a grand opening from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. this Saturday.
