The King’s Fork High School boys’ basketball team took its first loss of the season last weekend against Norview High School.
The Bulldogs and the Pilots squared off in a premier matchup at Kempsville High School. The Saturday night showcase ended with King’s Fork taking its first loss of the season 76-70. The loss sent King’s Fork to 8-1. Despite being a little disappointed, the Bulldogs feel comfortable about their ability to bounce back.
“We felt like we had the game, we had a good start,” Coach Rick Hite said. “It was a good learning experience for us, and we will definitely use it to get better.”
Jayden Epps led the way for King’s Fork with 33 despite fouling out towards the end of the game. Quentin Livingston added 12 points.
The Bulldogs had a challenging schedule in December, securing wins against top teams in Hampton Roads. With more tough teams like Norview at the start of the new year, the Bulldogs knew they’d continue to be challenged; however the Bulldogs believe it’s all to make them better and more prepared once the postseason comes.
“Our non-conference schedule is tough along with conference and the teams within the city,” Hite said. “But we enjoy that because you want to always have to be at your best. We know this may not be the only hiccup we have, but we know it’s going to help us be better at the end of the season.”
All eyes will be on King’s Fork once again this weekend as they have another marquee matchup, facing Green Run High School.
