Residents can now purchase a 2020 Suffolk wall calendar for family and friends on their holiday shopping lists.
Copies of the 2020 Suffolk wall calendar will be sold from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday and Friday at City Hall, 442 W. Washington St. Calendars cost $5 each and only cash will be accepted, according to Wayne Jones with Keep Suffolk Beautiful.
Shoppers may also visit the Suffolk Visitor Center, 524 N. Main St., or the Suffolk Art Gallery, 118 Bosley Ave., this season to purchase calendars for $5 each.
Featuring photos taken in Suffolk and submitted by community photographers, the calendar was produced by the Suffolk Art League and sponsored by Keep Suffolk Beautiful and Suffolk Tourism, according to a press release.
The featured images came from a contest calling for photos that were taken in Suffolk within the past three years.
“The response was amazing,” Suffolk Art League Executive Director Linda Bunch stated in the press release. “We had over 100 entries, and it was extremely difficult to choose the winning photos. We selected photographs that not only represent the seasons, but also ones that highlight the beautiful, and diverse scenery and events that make Suffolk such a wonderful place to live.”
Photographers whose work was included received a cash prize and a calendar, the press release states.
The following photographers have their photographs included in the calendar: Terricka Rodrigues, Daniel McDonald, Phillip Long, Natalie Kent, Jessica Jackman, Brian Parker, David Snelgrove, Michelle Westervelt, Nikki Bass, Renatta Ramsawh, Kristen Chaney, Howard Nicholson Jr., Mary Saunders, Kay Hurley, Steve Gellas, and Jennifer Ginn.
“This calendar captures each photographers’ love of Suffolk through their unique perspective and showcases our city in its purest form,” Tourism Development Manager Theresa Earles stated in the press release. “We are so thankful for all of the outstanding photo submissions. We expect the 2020 Suffolk Calendar will be a perfect holiday gift and encourage the community to add it to their shopping list.”
