The Nansemond-Suffolk Academy boys’ basketball team had a big fourth quarter to lift themselves to a 65-63 win in their first game.
The Saints opened their season up at home against Western Branch High School Tuesday evening. It was a good matchup for the Saints and a great win for them to open up the season. In the first quarter, both teams finished tied at 12. Western Branch took over the second quarter and outscored the Saints 23-18, which gave Western Branch a 35-30 lead over NSA.
The Bruins continued to extend their lead into the fourth quarter, finishing at 51-41. But NSA came out with a 24-point fourth quarter to take the win.
Kemauri Spencer led the way for the Saints with 21 points, with George Pettaway adding 14 points to go along with seven assists. The Saints finished with four players in double figures.
NSA will go on the road at 7 p.m. Thursday against a rival, Isle of Wight Academy.
