Lady Warrior field hockey standout Halle Fago was selected to the Class 5A All-Region team.

The Nansemond River High School field hockey team had one selection to the first team All-Region team. Fago had a strong season leading the Lady Warriors in scoring and was among the top scorers in South Hampton Roads for a second straight year as a sophomore.

“I felt really good about this year,” Fago said. “We have grown together as a team, and it showed in the way we played. I love the girls I play with and how hard each one of us have worked to improve.”

Nansemond River also had an All-Region honorable mention in Madalyn Baker. The Lady Warriors had a strong regular season battling their way through a tough Southeastern District. They finished the regular season with a 11-5 record but took a loss to Maury High School in the first round of the region tournament.

Coming into this season, the Lady Warriors had lost more than five contributors from last year’s team that made it to the region semifinals game. Many thought this season was going to be somewhat of a rebuild for the Lady Warriors, but they knew the type of team they had and what they could accomplish. They are the reigning city champions.
