The Suffolk Christian Academy girls’ basketball team tips the season off Monday evening.
The SCA Lady Knights are looking forward to building on their 2018-2019 season. The Lady Knights had a strong season last time around, including a couple of tournament wins, and with most of the players returning with more chemistry together, they are excited to see what’s in store for the 2019-2020 season.
“The majority of our team has played together for three or four years,” Coach Kristy Patton said. “That sounds like a recipe for success, but as long as we don’t become complacent with things and continue to work hard, we feel good about the season.”
Returning for the Lady Knights are leading scorers Jadyn Patton and Laura Cornette. Along with those two, Patton is excited about the senior group she has, led by Heather Pearson and Brooke Johnson. Patton said one of the goals for the Lady Knights this season was not letting the game be dictated by any one or two girls. Each game, they want to get an all-around contribution from the team.
The schedule looks strong again for the Lady Knights to be able to put together another strong season. They will face some tough teams in the tournaments that they play, but that is something they are looking forward to. They start the season against Lawrence Academy at home, and Patton is looking forward to the Lady Knights putting on a strong performance to officially open up the season.
“I’m looking forward to the girls pouring out everything they’ve worked for the past few years,” Patton said. “We want to put together a total team effort. We finished the season well last year, and I’m just looking for us to pick up where we left off.”
