The Suffolk Christian Academy boys’ basketball team is hoping for a strong year.
The past few seasons for the SCA boys’ basketball team has been a gradual build. Over the past three seasons, the team has taken a step each year hoping to be in the position that they are in now. Coach David Daniels feels like good things are in store for the Knights this season, now that they have more continuity under their belts.
“This could probably be one of our better groups that we have had here in the past few years,” Daniels said. “We definitely want to be better than we were last year, and we feel like we can compete in the conference this season to do so.”
The Knights return a few standouts from last season including Alex Feeney, George Rennie and Cody Ferguson. Feeney didn’t play most of the season last year due to injury, but Daniels is excited to have him start the season healthy at point guard for the team. The Knights feel like they have an experienced group.
“We want to get off to fast starts this year,” Daniels said. “We also feel like we can be at the top of the conference. We have a good schedule and we are looking forward to putting together some strong wins.”
SCA will take on Lawrence Academy Monday, and they are looking forward to seeing how they all look together. There hasn’t been a time in any scrimmages where the Knights have had the full team, so Daniels is looking for a strong game Monday.
“In this first game, we want to have a pedal-to-the-metal type of mentality,” Daniels said. “We want to come out and win some games right away so we can build some momentum for later on in the season.”
