Addy Greene signed her National Letter of Intent to play softball at Virginia Tech Thursday afternoon in a signing ceremony at Nansemond-Suffolk Academy.
A change in coaching prompted Greene to reopen her recruitment after initially being committed to University of Connecticut. She visited more schools and committed to Virginia Tech back in August.
Before committing to Tech, Greene said she realized her heart was in Virginia, which made her college decision easier to make. It had always been a dream of hers to play NCAA Division I softball, and that all started to come to fruition around her eighth-grade year.
“I am over the moon about signing that letter and getting to make that home for the next four years,” she said.
At the time she committed, the NSA senior gave a ton of credit to her family for all they had done for her throughout the years.
“I wouldn’t be where I am today without their help in all of this,” she said. “I cannot thank them enough for what they have done for me over the years in getting me here. A ‘thank you’ cannot do justice for what my parents deserve for all they have done.”
Greene is a multi-time All-Conference and All-State selection. She helped the Lady Saints to a state championship back in May and will look to add another one next spring.
