Lakeland, Hopewell match up in playoffs

The Lakeland High School field hockey team will match up with Hopewell High School in the regional playoffs.
After advancing all the way to the state tournament last year, Lakeland will have the same goal in mind this year. Last year, Lakeland was senior-heavy, which helped the Lady Cavs as they advanced. This year, they have a younger team and are a bit banged up in some areas, but Coach Jamee Albright is confident in her group.
“We’ve been dealing with some adversity as far as injuries and stuff like that go,” Albright said. “The girls have been able to tough it out and have been doing really well.”
Lakeland finished the season 7-8 and in their last game of the regular season they earned a 3-0 win over Hopewell. Albright believes the key to her group being successful in the playoffs is everyone remaining confident in what they are doing and finishing offensively.
“We have to finish our plays,” she said. “We need to be playing well offensively if we want to be able to make a run. The girls are capable of doing that.”
Leading the way for Lakeland all season have been Aryn Kinsey, Callie White, Alexa Snyder and Carson Lewis. Each game, those girls have been consistent, and their play and leadership will be key to whatever Lakeland can accomplish in the Class 3 Region A tournament.
Lakeland will be on the road when they take on Hopewell.
