The Nansemond-Suffolk Academy Saints football team earned a 49-28 win over Fredericksburg Christian School last Friday night.
The Saints have now won four of their last five games. The win put the Saints at 4-5 on the year, giving them a chance to finish out the year with a 5-5 record.
George Pettaway had another big night for the Saints, adding 212 rushing yards on just seven attempts to go along with three touchdowns. He also added 45 yards receiving with a touchdown as well. Ian McAninley went 6-9 for 252 yards and three touchdowns. Both Ben Grady and Drew Bergeron added 60-plus yard touchdowns. Grady and Bergeron each added an interception each last Friday as well.
“It was a total team win from a lot of different guys,” Coach Mike Biehl said. “Those guys played together like we envisioned ourselves doing all year long.”
Biehl knew his team was capable of making a run and playing well. Next up for them is a matchup on the road with Roanoke Catholic School.
“We are really big on maximizing every opportunity for what they are,” Biehl said. “We are playing a really good team, and we just want to go 1-0 this week. I think we all know what the ramifications are with the game and what could be at stake but that’s not going to change how we prepare for it and how we are going to come out and play this week.”
