Volunteers dead set on downtown cleanup

Citizen-ghouls of all ages are invited to participate in Keep Suffolk Beautiful’s second annual Zombie Litter Cleanup in downtown Suffolk this Saturday.
This year’s Zombie Cleanup will be held from 3 to 4:30 p.m. and is open to both adults and children. Any interested “zombies” will meet at Morgan Memorial Library, 443 W. Washington St., and then head out to collect litter as they shamble toward Main Street.
The cleanup was such as frightful success last year that Keep Suffolk Beautiful decided to bring it back from the grave once again, according to the city press release. This year’s cleanup will also have prizes in store for the best zombie costumes.
“It was so much fun last year that we had to make it one of our annual events,” Keep Suffolk Beautiful Chairperson Kathy Russell stated in the press release. “We hope even more people will join us this year. Who says picking up litter can’t be fun?”
