Suffolk Christian Academy boys’ soccer team had two players earn All-Conference honors.
The SCA Knights finished a solid season recently. Throughout the season, they were able to get some strong wins and were competitive against the stronger teams they played. They finished the season with a first-round loss in the conference tournament and a loss in the consolation game; however, Coach Marquis Lassiter didn’t let that take away from the season the team had. It was the first full season the Knights had playing strictly at the varsity level.
“We had goals of finishing high in the conference, and we did that,” Lassiter said. “It was a lot of guys I had play in different positions this season halfway through the season. We had weeks where we had one practice in between a bunch of games, and the guys were able to adapt very quickly. Everything we achieved this year was solely on their hard work and dedication.”
Along with the team success the Knights had this season, they had two players recognized for All-Conference — Ethan Griffin and Adam Deaton. Lassiter credited both guys for being standouts throughout the season for the team.
“Ethan was one of our biggest leaders throughout the season,” Lassiter said. “I can put him in any position, and I knew he could get the job done, and he’d fight until the very end. With Adam, he kept us in a lot of games throughout the season. He was by far our best player. He was our biggest voice in the back of the field. Both those guys had good seasons, and we are proud of them.”
Lassiter is anticipating losing only two players from this season’s team, and he hopes going forward they can continue the progression of all the players.
