Saints fall in homecoming game

The Saints took a 34-6 loss in the team’s homecoming game.
The Nansemond-Suffolk Academy win streak was snapped last Friday as the team hosted Norfolk Academy for homecoming. The loss put the team at 2-5 on the season. The Saints felt like they practiced well for what they expected Norfolk Academy to offer; however, they didn’t execute as well as they wanted to.
“Things didn’t go the way we practiced for, but we kept fighting,” Coach Mike Biehl said. “Now, it’s all about getting back to the drawing board and getting back to work.”
Biehl gave credit to Norfolk Academy for how they played. The Saints did get their only score of the game on a Jaden Freeman snag from Ian McAninley.
Even though the Saints felt like they didn’t put their best foot forward that game, they are looking forward to hitting the field this week for practice to find ways to get better before facing Norfolk Christian School.
“I think the guys are ready to get back to work and to be accountable,” Biehl said. “It was not just one or two people; it was all of us, from coaches to players. We all have to be better. We are in this together, and we are going to get out of it together.”
Even with a 2-5 record, it is plausible that the Saints can make a playoff push. They’d likely need to win out, and that is certainly something the Saints are capable of doing.
