UPDATED 3 p.m. Friday: All lanes in both directions in the 700 block of North Main Street are open as of 3 p.m. Friday following earlier tidal flooding. However, additional flooding issues and full or partial road closures are anticipated during the tide cycles Friday evening between approximately 8 and 10 p.m., as well as Saturday between approximately 8 and 11:00 a.m.
Earlier: The outside lanes of North Main Street at the Kimberly Bridge are closed due to tidal flooding, according to a city news release.
The roadway, in the 700 block, was completely closed earlier in the morning.
The city is under a coastal flood advisory until 2 p.m. Saturday, according to the National Weather Service Wakefield office. Onshore winds, wave action and tides are combining to create flooding of low areas along the shore and near tidal rivers and creeks, the Wakefield office stated.
Never attempt to drive through water of unknown depth.
