Bulldogs take win over Hickory

The King’s Fork High School boys’ volleyball team earned a 3-1 win over Hickory High School Tuesday night.
With the win at home, the Bulldogs volleyball team has won four of its last five games. The strong win against Hickory evens their record to 7-7. King’s Fork got solid contributions all the way around from the team.
Kyle Petrasek added 12 kills, an assist and an ace. Darius Dunn had 10 kills, four blocks and an assist. Carlo Cecchini added four kills, 17 assists, a block and an ace. Avontae Burke had four kills, one block and an ace.
“We played well as a team out there,” Coach Angie Gatling said. “I am very proud of how they work hard together. Our hustle game was great. Solid passing is the key to volleyball, and if we keep doing that, we want be in good shape going forward.”
King’s Fork has a chance to close the season out well. Some of their remaining games are against teams they have already played and suffered close losses.
The Bulldogs will also see each of their crosstown rivals, Lakeland High School and Nansemond River High School, one more time before the season is up. They are currently 2-2 against its rivals.
Next for the Bulldogs is a matchup with Oscar Smith High School on the road Thursday night.
