Pups, plus tasty treats this Thursday

The Pourfavor coffee shop on North Main Street will host “Mutts and Mochas” on Thursday from 3 to 5 p.m., the coffee shop’s first adoption event in support of the Suffolk Humane Society.
The humane society will bring pets to meet with patrons on Thursday as children enjoy a pup-themed scavenger hunt, the theme being “Who let the dogs out?”
“Kids will be given a list of dogs that were ‘let loose from the kennel’ to find throughout the café, (and) participants will receive a prize for finding them all,” Pourfavor General Manager Melody Brown wrote in an email.
There will be a craft table for kids to decorate their own dog tags, Brown added.
“We will also have a photo-booth corner with dog-themed props to snap pictures of adoptees with their newfound owners,” she wrote.
Pourfavor’s specialty latte for the event will be the “Muddy Paws Mocha,” a combination of hazelnut and dark chocolate, with whipped cream and crushed chocolate wafers for toppings. They’ll also be making Rice Krispie treats in the shape of dog bones and topped with sprinkles.
There will be educational materials about the Suffolk Humane Society, including volunteer opportunities, and a portion of every dollar spent at Pourfavor during the event will be donated to the humane society. Donations will be accepted by cash or card.
“I think it’s important that we are partnering with the Suffolk Humane Society for this adoption event because we can support by donation in sales, as well as (by increasing) awareness of all the services the humane society provides (in) Suffolk,” Brown wrote.
