N.C. man dies weeks after crash

A North Carolina man died several weeks after a single-vehicle accident on westbound Route 58 at the Franklin Bypass near Route 189.
Vernon Freeman, 67, of Tarboro, N.C., died Wednesday after suffering injuries in the crash, according to a city news release.
Freeman was driving a 2002 Toyota Highlander around 6:20 p.m. Aug. 4 when it left the road and impacted trees in the area, according to the release. Suffolk Fire and Rescue personnel provided emergency medical assessment and treatment, and he was taken by ambulance to a local hospital for further treatment, the release stated.
The investigation into the accident is ongoing, according to the release.
