The GFWC Junto Woman’s Club is getting ready for its sixth annual flea market that will be held this Saturday at Oakland Christian Church in Chuckatuck, 5461 Godwin Blvd. The market will be open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
This year’s market will offer an array of household items, baked goods, plants, garden items, holiday items and “a number of surprises,” according to a press release.
The Junto Club has been a positive force in the Suffolk community for more than 90 years, with a motto of “unity in diversity and our community, a better place.” This flea market will help the club fundraise for its various efforts in the community.
The club supports and volunteers within many organizations and charities in Suffolk, including the Suffolk Arts Council, the Nansemond River Preservation Alliance, Salvation Army Christmas programs, the Western Tidewater Free Clinic, Meals on Wheels and the VA Hospital.
The club awards two scholarships annually to graduating seniors from Suffolk high schools, and also supports Heifer Project International and its newest partner, Operation Smile.
“It’s just a great group of women that supports Suffolk in many ways,” said Nan Sullivan, chair for the flea market.
