Become a Master Gardener

The Suffolk Master Gardener Association is currently accepting students for its annual training classes this fall.
These classes will be held from early September to mid-November from 6 to 9 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 440 Market St. Classes will cover a range of topics and train participants on what they need to know to become Master Gardeners, including includes botany, lawncare, perennial plants, bees and many other related topics.
Class speakers will be professionals from several local Master Gardener Associations, Virginia Cooperative Extension Agents and other avid gardeners and businesspeople that work in the trade.
The fee for the class is $135 and covers the cost of the textbook, a background check and miscellaneous class expenses.
Those interested must meet with Suffolk Master Gardener Coordinator Wanda Gerard to be interviewed and to receive an overview of the Master Gardener program. These sessions will be held at 6 p.m. on July 11 and 23 at 440 Market St.
