Six Lady Saints softball players earned All-State honors following their state championship win.
It was a dream season for the Nansemond-Suffolk Academy softball team. After falling just short of the state title game for several seasons, the Lady Saints finally got over the hump by not only reaching the game but also winning it.
NSA went into the playoffs with a No. 3 seed and was bound to have a strong showing on the All-State teams.
NSA had four girls make the first team in Madison Inscoe, Jenna Elswick, Reese Byrd and Jessica Chang. Two girls, Gabby Infranco and Cierra O’Keeffe, made second team.
Coach Brittany Thornburg was also awarded the Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association Coach of the Year for softball.
NSA finished the season with a 21-7 record.
