The Nansemond-Suffolk Academy boys’ lacrosse team has advanced to the state title game.
The Saints grabbed a 17-10 win over Virginia Episcopal School to advance to the Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association Division II state championship game. Last season, the Saints fell short in the semifinals game.
Simon Dowd scored four goals and added four assists, and Adam Soper won 22 of 27 face-offs to help lead the Saints. Five different Saints had at least three goals. In the first matchup, NSA took a two-point loss to VES. NSA will compete against Christchurch School for the VISAA Division II title.
NSA won its only meeting against Christchurch 15-11, which came on senior day on May 1. NSA could add another state champion in spring sports this season, after the softball team secured one.
NSA and Christchurch will compete for the VISAA Division II title at 1 p.m. Saturday at Randolph-Macon College.
