The Nansemond-Suffolk Academy boys’ lacrosse team advanced to the state semifinals with a 16-5 win over Highland School Tuesday afternoon.
NSA picked up a home state tournament win after they defeated Highland School. Simon Dowd scored three goals and added three assists, while Will Wren scored four goals and had one assist. Adam Soper won 15 of 17 face-offs.
The win advanced NSA to the state semifinals. Last season, the Saints fell in the state semifinal game to North Cross School.
NSA will head up to Randolph-Macon College Friday afternoon to face off with Virginia Episcopal School for a chance to play in the state championship game. It will be the second time the two teams have met this season, with Virginia Episcopal having taken the first meeting in a close 11-9 win.
If NSA wins Friday, they will compete for a state title Saturday afternoon. Both semifinal and state championship games will be held at Randolph-Macon College.
